In the collector world, three words move the market more than almost any others: ‘full set’. But what does provenance actually buy you, and when does it matter most?
A full set typically means the watch arrives with its original box, warranty card, booklets and any hang tags it shipped with. For modern references, papers confirm the purchase date and authorised-dealer origin — useful for warranty and resale alike.
When it matters
For sought-after steel sports models, a documented full set can add a meaningful premium and sell far faster. For vintage pieces, provenance — service records, original receipts, even period photographs — can be the difference between a good watch and a great one.
When it matters less
A watch-only piece is not a red flag. Plenty of excellent watches lose their papers over decades of honest ownership. What matters is that the watch itself is correct — which is exactly what our authentication confirms, papers or not.
