They share a founder, a city and a reputation for toughness — but Rolex and Tudor serve collectors in different ways. If you are weighing one against the other, here is how we would frame the decision.
The case for Rolex
Rolex offers unmatched brand recognition, in-house movements and the strongest resale market in watches. A Submariner or Datejust is as much a store of value as a watch — and a piece you can wear anywhere in the world.
The case for Tudor
Tudor delivers much of that DNA — robust build, strong design heritage, excellent movements — at a more accessible price. The Black Bay line in particular punches well above its weight and has built a devoted following.
Our take: buy Rolex for the icon and the liquidity; buy Tudor for the value and the wearability. Neither is a wrong answer.
